Thomas Peter Houghton, affectionately known as "Hometown" or "HT", passed away on June 13, 2024 in South Fork, Colorado. He was born on August 1, 1971, in Denver, Colorado. Thomas led a remarkable life filled with dedication, adventure, and unwavering loyalty.

A proud graduate of Monte Vista High School in 1990, Thomas went on to serve as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1991. His proudest accomplishment was his service to his country during those years. As a Houghton family tradition military service was a must and they were proud to serve their country.

Thomas's 25-year career as a self-employed master carpenter and 10 year career in the wind industry where he never missed a day showcased his skills and passion for building. Colleagues remember him for never being late. His craftsmanship and work ethic were unparalleled.

Outside of work, Thomas indulged in various hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. He was an avid Harley Davison rider like his father and brother. He also enjoyed archery, boating, fishing, camping hunting and riding horses. He embraced life with a spirit of adventure. His love for playing pool, poker, horseshoes, and logging. He had the heart of a "Mountain Man" and a love of the outdoors.

Those who knew Thomas recognized him as a best friend with a huge heart. He was described as sentimental, generous, punctual, loyal, and someone who knew his true self. His adventurous nature and strength of character left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Thomas will be deeply missed by his surviving family members including his mother Vicki S. Houghton; sister Suelynn Behil; brother Wayne Houghton; son Alexander Houghton; nephews Blaine Michael Behil and Blake Christopher Behil; cousins Fred Houghton III and Jeff Houghton, as well as other many other Houghton relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Welcome Thomas Ashley Houghton; uncles Jack, Fred, Jerry; aunts Lulu, Sally and Big Sue; along with those who have gone before him.

We love and will miss you beyond words, now you are at peace.

Visitation services will be held on Friday June 21st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mountain Valley Mortuary located at 504 4th Ave in Monte Vista. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place on Thursday June 27th starting at 10:00 AM at Homelake Veterans Cemetery located at 3749 Sherman Ave in Monte Vista.
