Takako T.
Clark
Mar 19, 1930 — Aug 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Takako T. Clark, affectionately known as Kathy, who left this world on August 9, 2026, at the age of 96. Born in Sapporo, Japan on March 19, 1930, Kathy lived a remarkable life that spanned continents and cultures. After meeting Dale Clark, who was serving in the military and stationed in Japan, through an arranged date by mutual friends, the two quickly found a connection. They were married and began their life together, spending their first 10 years as a couple in Nucla, Colorado. She found her home in Monte Vista, Colorado, where she enriched the lives of those around her as a dedicated educator, artist, and entrepreneur.
Kathy had a deep love for education, which was evident in her long-standing career at Adams State University. She passionately taught the Japanese language and shared her love for cultural arts through special classes in calligraphy and origami. Education was a cornerstone of her life; after moving to the United States, she pursued her academic dreams vigorously, achieving both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees while raising her family. Her commitment to learning and teaching inspired many students and colleagues along the way.
Kathy also had a creative side that shone through her artistic pursuits. As a proud member of the Alpine Artist Association in the San Luis Valley, she showcased her talent and creativity, leaving behind a legacy of art that will be cherished by her family and friends. Additionally, Kathy owned and operated the Mode-O-Day dress shop in Monte Vista for nearly a decade, where she delighted customers with her keen sense of style and passion for fashion.
Kathy's warm spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by her family, including her husband, Dale Clark; her cherished children, Janet Clark, Rodney (Laurie) Clark, and Loretta (Gary Klecker) Clark; and her beloved grandchildren, William Tres Clark, Samuel Clark, and Daniel Clark. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends, who will carry fond memories of her. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
In honoring Kathy's life, a cremation has been chosen, and a service will be held at a later date to celebrate her incredible spirit and contributions to those she loved. Details of the ceremony will be shared as they are finalized.
Kathy's legacy of love, creativity, and dedication to education will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She may be gone, but her spirit will continue to inspire all of us.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Mountain Valley Mortuary
