With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ronald Painter-Petersen, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who beautifully journeyed through life from July 9, 1938, until September 19, 2026, at the age of 88.Ron was a devoted family man, leaving behind his daughters, Barbara (Larry) Chillson and LaRonda Petersen, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly. Preceding him in death were his loving wife, Mary Roberts Petersen his parents, and his sister, Cheryl Petersen. Ron also at 70 years old was found by his paternal siblings 4 sisters, 7 brothers who have preceded him death.A man of many passions, Ron found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A lover of the outdoors, he spent countless hours fishing and hunting, skills he passed on to his family. His heart raced for NASCAR, especially for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. It was a treasured memory for him when he attended a NASCAR race in 2017 and witnessed Dale Earnhardt Jr. triumph at Phoenix. Ron was known for his spirit of fun; whether he was sharing his extensive stories-some embellished with a wink-or pulling light-hearted pranks, he embraced joy in all aspects of life.In a significant moment of his spiritual journey, Ron was baptized on September 3, 2023, at Gateway Church in Del Norte. This experience deeply strengthened his bond with his Lord and Savior, providing him with immense comfort and peace.

Ron was a semi- truck driver most of his adult life. He loved traveling across the United States. Ron always had his partner Missy his black chow to guard his truck. One of his favorite trips was when he was able to take his grandson Rico to different states when he was younger. Ron always had stories about his adventures and every single truck stop in the states. Ron received his million miles without an accident award before his retirement.

Ron loved going to see his newfound family. Every summer he would head to Marylyn his niece her husband Kerry and their daughter Denise home. Sometimes he was gone for week at a time or even month if possible.

For years, Ron enjoyed a daily pilgrimage to McDonald's, where the staff knew him well and had his order ready, symbolizing the connections he cherished in his community. His love for old country music echoed through his days, and he embodied kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Cremation has been selected, and a Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Ronald's vibrant spirit will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 24, 2026 at the Gateway Church, located at 975 Grand Avenue in Del Norte.  Pastor Greg Schaffer will be presiding.

Rest in peace, Ronald-you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
