Rayanna Rene Duran-Chavez, 32, passed away unexpectedly on October 9, 2026. She was born on June 15, 1994, in Alamosa, Colorado, and made her home in Del Norte. Those who knew Rayanna will remember her kind heart, sense of humor, and the energy she brought wherever she went.
Above all, Rayanna loved being a mom to her children, Kingston Chavez and Idaly Garcia. They were the lights of her life.
She is survived by her mother, Roxanne Garcia; her siblings, Rae Portales Duran, Jennifer (Reggie) Adams, Estevan Garcia, I'yonna Garcia and Tobey Zamora; and her grandfather, Johnny Chavez. She also leaves behind her aunts and uncles, Ronnie (Justine) Chavez, Jody Chavez, and Rene (Joel Rosales) Rodriguez; her best friend, Aimee Martinez; and her dear co-worker, Andy Torres. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Duran; her stepfather, Bert Garcia; and her grandmother, Susie Chavez.
Rayanna worked as an office manager at Rio Grande Hospital, where she cared about her work and the people she met each day. Her colleagues and patients meant a great deal to her. She also worked part-time at Ramons in South Fork, sharing her smile with co-workers and customers alike.
A free spirit who loved to laugh, Rayanna enjoyed spending time with her friends. Whether she was heading to a rave or sitting down for a meal with the people she loved, she treasured being together.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 9:45 am on Saturday October 17, 2026 at the New Life Fellowship in Del Norte. A funeral service will follow beginning at 10:00 am. In honoring Rayanna's wishes, cremation will follow the services. A reception will be held immediately following the funeral at the Rio Grande Hospital Wellness Center. Those who would like to honor Rayanna's memory may make a contribution to Rio Grande Hospital, a place close to her heart.
Rayanna will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched. Her laughter, love, and the memories she shared with them will always be treasured.
