Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Pauline Sophie Dey, who peacefully departed this life, surrounded by her family, on April 13, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on May 6, 1933, in Ohiowa, Nebraska, Pauline was the embodiment of kindness and warmth, cherished not only by her family but also by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pauline grew up in Ohiowa, NE and later moved to Lincoln, where she attended college courses in education at the University of Nebraska. This spirit of exploration carried her to Colorado Springs, where she began her career at Timpkin Roller Bearing. It was there that she met the love of her life, William Dey. The two married on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1954, and shared a remarkable 71 years of marriage, characterized by unwavering love, devotion, and partnership.

After starting their family, Pauline and William moved to Buena Vista, where he worked alongside his brother in the electrical trade. Their entrepreneurial spirit eventually led them to open Red Deer Enterprises, where Pauline served as the dedicated bookkeeper. Later in life, they settled in Monte Vista, allowing them to be closer to their cherished family, which was always at the heart of Pauline's life.

Pauline found joy in the simple pleasures-she loved reading, solving puzzles, playing tennis, and walking by the scenic Arkansas River. Her passion for life extended to golf, and she radiated a caring, loving, and cheerful spirit that touched everyone around her. Her favorite quote, "No news is good news," reflected her optimistic outlook on life.

Pauline is survived by her loving husband, William Dey; her three children: Jerene (Gary) Wilkinson, Brian (Eileen) Dey, and Pamela (Tim) Laney; as well as her grandchildren: Kellyn (Michael) Ross, Kirk Wilkinson, Jessica (Brian) Carpenter, Annette Laney, Heather (Sean) Lawler, Chelsea Dey, Cassidy Dey, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Jurgen Folkerts, Martha Polage, and Caroline Chapp, as well as her beloved grandson, Ryan Laney.

A graveside service celebrating Pauline's life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Monte Vista Cemetery. Those who knew and loved her are invited to join her family in honoring her memory and reflecting on the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Pauline will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for family, and the joy she brought to all who were lucky enough to share in her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the (Upper Rio Grande Animal Society) Conour Animal Shelter.
