Born in Trinidad, Colorado, on March 22, 1950, Ray was raised on a family farm in Waverly, Colorado, where he learned the values of hard work, faith, and community that guided him throughout his life. He spent his years rooted in love for his family and dedication to the San Luis Valley.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gina Jaramillo; his children Dana (Alain) Archuleta, Laurette Stone, Tim (Lara Catherine) Jaramillo, Patrick (Andrea) Jaramillo, and Chris McLain; and his grandchildren Brianna Jaramillo-Stone, Alexis Jaramillo-Stone, Rhyzan Oaks-Jaramillo, Phoenix Oaks-Jaramillo, Tim Archuleta, and Andrew Archuleta. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Ameri Cianchetti and Avery Cianchetti, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and the Russell family—lifelong friends who became family.
Ray was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed driving the Amish, and forged lasting friendships with many farmers and ranchers. As the owner and operator of Agri-Pipe LLC, Ray earned respect for his deep knowledge, strong personality, and infectious sense of humor. He was the foundation of the family, will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his mischievous laughter, and the light he brought to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Marie Jaramillo; his son, Richard Matthew Jaramillo; his grandson, Aiden Ambrose Oaks-Jaramillo; and John and Elise (Cohn) Sanchez.
Cremation was chosen in accordance with his wishes. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa, followed by a Mass celebrating his life at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will take place at the Alamosa Cemetery Columbarium, following the service, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and legacy. Reception to follow.
Patrick Raymond “Ray” Jaramillo will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His love, laughter, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, the San Luis Valley Community and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
