Karl was born on June 14, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, to John Lichtenfeld and Dorothy Chapman Lichtenfeld. Throughout his life, he was known for his adventurous spirit, creative mind, and deep devotion to his family. His greatest joy came from the people he loved, and the legacy he leaves behind is one of patience, kindness, and unwavering encouragement.

Karl is lovingly survived by his five daughters: Kelsie Lichtenfeld; Karie Ann Lichtenfeld (Matthew Espinoza); Katie Velasquez (Derrick Velasquez); Kristy Dawn Lichtenfeld; and Katina Powell (Josh Powell). He also leaves behind his 22 cherished grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his sisters, Karen Baker and Linda Bergmann, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kehley John Lichtenfeld, and his parents, John and Dorothy Lichtenfeld.

Karl embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. A true car enthusiast, he proudly owned 32 different automobiles over the years, each reflecting his appreciation for craftsmanship and adventure. He was a devoted outdoorsman who found peace in camping and cherished the beauty of God's creation. His fascination with birds inspired him to spend countless hours learning about them and building birdhouses to welcome them into his yard. A cowboy at heart, Karl treasured the years he spent ranching in Gunnison, where his love for the western way of life flourished. Karl was also a gifted artist who enjoyed drawing and creating handcrafted jewelry, as well as working with wood projects , expressing his creativity in ways that brought joy to both himself and those around him. In his spare time he enjoyed reading a good ol' Western book . He also loved his yard and flowers .

Perhaps Karl's greatest gift was the way he invested in others. He possessed an extraordinary sense of humor that could brighten any room, a patient spirit that made him a natural teacher, and a heart that delighted in helping others grow. As the father of two deaf daughters, he was determined that they would never be limited by their circumstances. With love, perseverance, and encouragement, he taught them to find their voices and confidently navigate the world around them. His belief in their potential was a testament to the kind of father he was.

Those who knew Karl will remember his gentle patience, his willingness to teach, his creative talents, his adventurous spirit, and above all, the deep love he had for his family. His life was marked by quiet acts of devotion, laughter shared with those he loved, and memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Del Norte Cemetery.
