In Loving Memory of Justin Nathan Valenzuela

January 14, 1990 - September 1, 2026

Justin Nathan Valenzuela, a gentle soul who filled the lives of those around him with warmth, love and everlasting friendship, passed away far too soon on September 1, 2026, in Monte Vista, Colorado, at the young age of 36.

Born in Alamosa, Colorado on January 14, 1990, Justin was a young man defined by his pure heart and immense capacity for love. He was a remarkably kind and gentle soul who truly wished nothing but the absolute best for everyone he encountered in life. Justin found peace and expression through his deep love for music; He could spend hours without end creating the music that he loved. Along with his passion for music, Justin held a profound love for prayer, keeping a quiet and devoted faith that guided his daily life.

Justin loved to walk. He didn't like stay in one place for too long and many of his friendships came from those who had the blessing of meeting him on one of his walking missions. With his love for adventure, Justin spent time living in Las Vegas and Denver, for short periods of time, but he always came home to Monte Vista.

As an enthusiast of the game, Justin was a lifelong, die-hard Raiders fan. He looked forward to football season, and some of his happiest moments were spent caught up in endless, spirited sports conversations with his brothers, his mom and his nephews. Just recently, he came to love the Denver Nuggets and spoke of new adventures he was going to take to support them. Justin had a love for food in every way possible, and he would spend hours watching his favorite cooking shows.

Above all, Justin's life was anchored by his love for his family. He is survived by his devoted mother and best friend, Norma Jean Rivera of Monte Vista; his father, Val (Dianna) Valenzuela of Center, CO; his brothers, Jeremy (Anika) Martinez and Joshua Valenzuela, both of Monte Vista, and his bonus-siblings Angie Rodriguez, Zach Sanchez, and Estevan(Christianna) Sanchez. He was a proud uncle to his nephews, Levi, Jaxon, Jaycian, Zane, Isaias, Xavion and his nieces Celeste, Z'Anna, and Ayana.

Justin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lucas and Betty Martinez; Uncle Albert Camargo, his step-father, Henry Rivera; as well as several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Justin's time with us was entirely too short, but the love, kindness, and music he shared during his 36 years will echo in the hearts of his family, friends and community forever. He will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.

In honor of Justins life, a Rosary will be held at 9:30 am on Friday September 11, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista.  A Funeral Service will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 am.  Interment will take place following the services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery.  The family asks that you dress for comfort, Justin loved his white T-shirts and black shorts/pants.
