It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Rubio Jr., born on March 22, 1960, in Tucson, AZ. Jose left this world peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Del Norte, CO, at the age of 65. He is survived by his cherished daughters Shannon (Harold "Walz") Villalobos, Shaubin (Justin) Gates and Megan (Lenny) Gallegos, and a beautiful array of grandchildren: Celbee Gallegos, Emily (Brock) Martin, Laynie Gallegos, Lenny "Bubba" Gallegos, Shaylin Gates, Connor Gates, and Eli "Mendoza" Villalobos, his great grandchildren; Haidyn Gallegos, Jayven Gallegos, Zaelynn Martin and Haisley Martin. He is also survived by his step-sister Nellie (Joe) Moreno, their children Joanne Rubio Moreno, Anthony Joe Moreno and Joleen Moreno as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who adored him.
Jose was a remarkable man who dedicated his life to hard work and family. He built an impressive career in agriculture and mining, having earned the respect of his colleagues as a former foreman at the Summitville mine. His journey was one of perseverance, rising from the bottom up. He was not only a sharp dresser with a keen sense of style but also possessed a green thumb, nurturing his plants and yard with love and attention.
Jose had a zest for life, often found cruising with the windows down and loud classic rock playing. He cherished the simple joys, whether it was indulging in his favorite Mexican dishes or cheering on his beloved Broncos. His sense of humor and playful nature brought laughter to those around him, as he loved to poke the bear and brighten the mood. Above all, he had an extraordinary capacity for love and compassion, always concerned about others and ready to lend a helping hand.
In the years ahead, we invite family and friends to gather in remembrance of Jose's life. Cremation was selected and a celebration will honor his journey, celebrating the joy and light he brought into the lives of so many. The details will be shared at a later date, where memories will be exchanged, laughter will be shared in his honor, and the warmth of his spirit will be felt among all who loved him.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents; Armida and Jose Rubio, Sr. and the love of his life, Glenda Wilson as well as his brothers.
We will carry his memory in our hearts, forever grateful for the cherished moments we shared. Rest in peace, Jose Rubio Jr. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
