It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Humbert Mondragon, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who left us peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Joe was born on October 10, 1942, in Saguache, Colorado. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Joe lived a life filled with love, dedication, and authenticity. He worked as a laborer in the agriculture industry and spent many years at the grocery store in Saguache, where his warm smile and kind heart touched countless lives. A devoted son, Joe was a full-time caregiver for his parents during their later years, showcasing an unwavering love and commitment to family. He was preceded in death by his parents Madeline and Humbert Mondragon and his beloved sisters, Marie (Joe) Greenwood, Carrie (Juan) Garcia, Shirley Martinez, Kathie Sylvester, and sister-in-law Rose Mondragon.

Joe cherished his two brothers: Steven (Toni) Mondragon of Denver, Billy Mondragon of Great Falls, Montana, and brother-in-law Dave Martinez of Saguache. He leaves behind a legacy of love and connection through his nieces and nephews: Michelle (Clint) Wasson, Stephanie (Christian) Velasquez, Mary Ann Martinez, Stacie Martinez, Ryan (Sierra) Martinez, Therese Garcia, Patrick (Dave) Greenwood, Geraldine (Ben) Ramey, Kim (Rewa) Bickley, Kenneth Bickley, Missy Mondragon, Melinda Mondragon, Madeline Mondragon, and Billy Mondragon jr. along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

Joe had a deep passion for music and, in his younger years, played guitar in a talented garage band in Saguache. A dedicated sports fan, he proudly supported the Colorado University Buffaloes. Joe was known for his well-put-together appearance and a keen sense of style. His love for his church was evident, and he volunteered as the groundskeeper for many years, demonstrating his unwavering faith and commitment to his community.

Joe will be remembered for his honesty, good nature, and the unique ability to make others think a little deeper. He had a great sense of humor and shared a special bond with his brothers. He enjoyed visiting the casinos in Cripple Creek and had a long-standing love for calling Bingo in Saguache, where he brought joy to many.

Cremation was selected, and a service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 22, 2026 at the Saguache Community Center. Inurnment will follow services in the Hillside Cemetery.
