Howard Lee Swift

Born September 24, 1939

Peacefully fell asleep in death, December 30, 2025

Howard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Harold and Lucille Swift. He is preceded in death by both parents, his brother John Swift, and his wife of 62 Years JoAnna Swift, and their son Eric Swift. He is survived by three adopted daughters, Christian Michaels of Colorado, Brenda Vansickle of Colorado, and Sandi Denney of New York. And numerous other loved ones who regarded him as a Father, brother, uncle, advocate, counselor, or a friend that felt like family. He loved them all!

The most common feeling about Howard held by all who met him, "He knew no stranger." Whether driving the local Del Norte School bus or helping his insurance clients, he cared deeply about their welfare. He did his best to make their lives just a little bit better. He was full of compassion & kindness. But his crazy humor...has made for epoch Howard stories, and everyone who met him has one to tell.

His love of people was rooted in his love of his God, Jehovah.

He devoted many hours to helping others come to know and love God. He served as an elder in the local Monte Vista Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He volunteered and served all over the world on construction projects, building Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls as a member of the Witness community.

To know Howard was to know his faith.

There's a hole in the universe where he once stood. He will be missed. He will be remembered. But most of all he was loved!

Please join us on February 14, 2026, at the Monte Vista Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 28 Trosper Drive, Monte Vista, Colorado, at 1:00 PM (MST) to celebrate the life of Howard Swift.
