Grace Romero Aguilar

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Grace Romero Aguilar, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who departed this life on August 6, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on July 5, 1971, in Phoenix, Arizona, Grace embodied the vibrant spirit of her Mexican American heritage as she lived her life to the fullest in Monte Vista, Colorado.

Grace was known for her unwavering love for her family, which was at the heart of everything she did. Her legacy will live on through her beloved spouse, Eucebio Romero Aguilar; her children, Marcella Mendez, Janel Mendez Canales, Valerie Mendez, and Leticia Villa; and her son, Benjamin Villa as well as her step-children; Flor Romero, Idalia Romero and Adalberto Romero. Grace's role as a mother was a source of pride, guiding her children with compassion and warmth. She also leaves behind a loving multitude of grandchildren, including Ameria, Alina, Devin, Emma, Junior, Isiai, Maite, Elian, Diana, and Angel, who will forever remember her laughter and love.

An essential part of Grace's life was her strong connection to nature and the joy it brought her. Whether she was camping under the stars, swimming, or joyfully flying kites, each moment was a testament to her zest for life. Grace was not only an enthusiastic explorer but also a creator at heart, finding joy in crafts and various projects. Her home was a canvas for her creativity, a space filled with the beautiful artifacts of her passions.

Grace's laughter was infectious, and her humor could brighten any room. She radiated happiness, often showcased through the sparkle of her jewelry that she wore with pride. As a compassionate soul, she took delight not only in the company of her family but also in her pets, including her beloved cat Evi, dogs Gorda, Menso, and Phoenix, as well as her duck Shiloh and rooster Tarzan. They were not merely pets but cherished companions who shared in her love for life.

Grace is survived by her father, Manuel Barela, and her mother, Delia Barela, along with her brothers, John and Ruben Barela, and sisters Priscilla Barela, Connie Barela, Irma Armenta, Lydia Fulwilder, Rachel Barela, and Delores Barela as well as her God-Daughter Diamond Casas. Each of them will hold dear the memories of Grace's kindness and laughter.

Grace was preceded in death by her nephews Alfonso Rivas and Angel Fulwilder
