Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gene "Geno" Robert Medina, aged 67, who left us on November 1, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Del Norte, Colorado. Geno was born on September 8, 1958, and spent his life in the scenic San Luis Valley, where he developed a profound appreciation for the beauty of the land and the joys of community.

Geno worked diligently as a welder and fabricator, known among his peers for his extraordinary skills and dedication. Geno's hard work was matched only by his generosity and kindness, attributes that endeared him to a wide circle of friends and family.

Geno had an adventurous spirit, often spending time searching for arrowheads and wells, cultivating an enduring love for the outdoors. He found joy in moments spent with friends, always willing to lend a helping hand. Those who knew Geno will remember his big heart and infectious laughter, which brightened even the dullest days. He had a special fondness for his Mustang, a vehicle he once proudly owned and cherished, embodying the spirit of freedom and adventure he carried throughout his life.

Geno is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Alfred) Gallegos and Sara Medina, and brothers, Joseph Medina and Adolph Medina, his nieces and nephews: Christopher Gallegos, Shawn Gallegos, Michael Gallegos, Sarah Gallegos, Patrick Gallegos, Lorenzo Garcia, Jonathan Garcia, Sher Duran, Dawn Arellano, Jason Medina and Lisa Medina, his great nieces and great nephews; Angel Gallegos, Scarlet Gallegos, Dominic Gallegos, Lucius Gallegos, Nadalie Gallegos, Aurelio Medina, Marley Medina, Jordan Garcia and Jessie Garcia as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a lot of friends who will carry forward his legacy of warmth and camaraderie.

Geno was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Louise Medina as well as his brother, Gary Medina

Geno will be cremated, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously shared with others.
