Evelyn Farish

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Evelyn Farish, who departed this life peacefully with her family at her side on May 27, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on December 2, 1942 in Pulaski Tennessee, Evelyn was a cherished resident of Monte Vista, Colorado. She is survived by her beloved husband, Eugene Lee Farish, whom she married on June 29, 1996.

Evelyn is also survived by her beloved daughter, Gina Leigh White (Ray) Pascoal; step-sons, Scott (Alissa) Farish and Andrew (Sandy) Farish; her sister-in-law Kathleen Hendrickson of Atlanta GA and her step-grandchildren, Maisie, Emma, and Mackenzie Farish. Her family extends further with step-grandchildren-in-law Christy (David) Rangel and Eric (Shane) Engebretson, along with her great-grandchildren-in-law Teagan, Isaac, Genevieve, Elijah, and Ezra. She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Luther Hendrickson and her brother, Donald Rhea Hendrickson.

Evelyn graduated from Giles County High School (where she was a member of the band) Martin College and Athens State College in Alabama. Her love of music began at age 10 when she began piano lessons. She sang in the Girls State Choir and choirs at Pulaski First Methodist Church, Columbia Methodist Church, Monte Vista United Methodist Church and the Giles County Community Choir.

She taught for 38 years in Pulaski schools. She always treasured her connections with her Pulaski students and friends; enjoying visiting online and by reading The Pulaski Citizen. In 1996 she married Gene, her high school sweetheart and moved to Monte Vista, Colorado where she taught at Monte Vista High School, Adams State College and substituted at several of the schools in the area.

Evelyn and Gene enjoyed traveling to England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and a Danube River Cruise. She joined Gene on a few of his adventures by climbing two 14,000 foot mountains, running Boulder Boulder 10K race twice, downhill and cross country skiing to a 10th mountain hut.

A devoted member of the community, Evelyn shared her vibrant spirit and warmth through her involvement with the Columbine Tea Society, Beautify Monte Vista, Monte Vista Carnegie Library and the Monte Vista Chapter V of the P.E.O. (an organization that gives college scholarships and grants to girls). She was a caring volunteer at the Conour Animal Shelter, reflecting her deep love for animals and compassion for their welfare. She helped support several animal organizations and encouraged her friends to always buy products that were cruelty free.

Her spirit shone brightly as a supportive member of the Monte Vista Community Methodist Church and a beloved visitor at The Legacy of Monte Vista. Evelyn's enthusiastic nature was particularly evident during the holidays, especially Christmas, which she celebrated with a beautifully decorated home and heartfelt joy.

Evelyn will be remembered for her loving, caring, and welcoming presence, which touched the lives of many. Her infectious positivity and empathy will forever live in the memories of those who knew her.
