Douglas "Doug" Graham Kittredge, a beloved husband, father, and accomplished outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 99 in Creede, Colorado, where he had lived with his wife, Sara, for many wonderful years.

Born on October 13, 1926, in New York, Doug spent his life dedicated to his family, his passions for the outdoors, and his thriving business in the sporting goods industry. Doug and Sally shared an extraordinary 70 plus years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering love and partnership.

He leaves behind a cherished legacy through his son Dirk (Sally) Kittredge, his daughter Jody (Kent) Valmassy, and his beloved grandchildren: Megan (Brandon) Shamhart, Rayna (Dawson) Kittredge, Lee (Wei Ting) Valmassy, and Kyle (Amanda) Valmassy. His family will forever hold dear the memories of joy and adventure they shared together.

Doug was a true outdoorsman, known for his remarkable contributions to the sport of bow hunting. He holds many records in the Pope and Young Record book, including the prestigious world record for Cougar, and has left an indelible mark with his achievements in bear, goat, and elk hunting categories. As a passionate entrepreneur, he founded the world's largest mail order archery company, eventually relocating it to Mammoth Lakes, California, where his dedication to craftsmanship and excellence continues to inspire.

In his quieter moments, Doug enjoyed hiking and backpacking with Sally, often rediscovering and correcting early outdoor maps of the Sierra Nevada Mountains-a place he adored. Family trips to the Baja of Mexico, where they spent countless days fishing and living in a charming Palapa on the beach, filled his heart with joy and created lasting memories.

Doug was a man of great integrity and determination, whose driven nature extended beyond his professional life and into his cherished family life. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private family service will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Doug's extraordinary life. The family kindly requests that those wishing to pay their respects reflect on their fondest memories of Doug, embracing the spirit of adventure he instilled in all those around him. Cremation has been selected, as per his wishes.
