Denis Powell (Papa) , born on June 15, 1949, in Del Norte, Colorado, to Donald Frank Powell and Dorthy Agatha Powell was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 30, 2026.

Denis was a proud graduate of Creede High School, class of 1967. After graduation, he dedicated many years to working in the mines until their closure. Never one to shy away from hard work, he later found his niche in carpentry, where his skill, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic continued to shine. In addition to his career, Denis gave back to his community by volunteering with the Creede Fire Department, a role he held with pride.

Denis had a deep love for the town of Creede-it was not just his home, but his heart. He found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life: attending the annual Creede car show, driving the old fire truck in the Fourth of July parade with his grandchildren who he adored, and spending time in the great outdoors. Whether he was snowmobiling, fishing, camping, or jeeping through the mountains surrounding Creede, Denis embraced adventure and cherished every opportunity to explore and travel.

A devoted sports fan, Denis never turned down the chance to watch a Denver Broncos football game. He was known for his love of telling jokes, kindness and his ability to make others smile. Beneath his humor was a calm and steady presence that brought comfort to those around him.

Denis is preceded in death by both his parents .

He is survived by his son, Josh Powell and Katina Powell his beloved grandchildren, Delilah, Ryker, and Jaxon; his brother, Jake and Sally Powell , his sister, Donna Anderson. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, laughter, and a deep love for family, community, and God .

While our hearts grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing that Denis is at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones .

Denis will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
